Percy Bysshe Shelley
“I am the daughter of Earth and Water,
And the nursling of the Sky;
I pass through the pores of the ocean and shores;
I change, but I cannot die.
For after the rain when with never a stain
The pavilion of Heaven is bare,
And the winds and sunbeams with their convex gleams
Build up the blue dome of air,
I silently laugh at my own cenotaph,
And out of the caverns of rain,
Like a child from the womb, like a ghost from the tomb,
I arise and unbuild it again.”
What a surprising and practical thing to say …. if only people would really hear it …
… the answer is not to turn inward, to retreat into competing factions, distrusting those who don’t look like you or worship the way you do, or don’t get their news from the same sources you do. We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal. We can do this if we open our souls instead of hardening our hearts. If we show a little tolerance and humility, and if we’re willing to stand in the other person’s shoes, as my mom would say …. just for a moment, stand in their shoes. – President Biden 01/20/21
There are so many people who are suffering because too many either refuse to believe they can make a difference, or worse ….. shrug it off as ‘not their problem’. That, right there, is the closed heart.
We are all connected. We are all affected by all choices by all people, whether subtly or overtly.
What you put into the Universe … ultimately returns to you.
