“I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it’s such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.”
― Ellen DeGeneres

“If you want to test cosmetics, why do it on some poor animal who hasn’t done anything? They should use prisoners who have been convicted of murder or rape instead. So, rather than seeing if perfume irritates a bunny rabbit’s eyes, they should throw it in Charles Manson’s eyes and ask him if it hurts.”

Love for ALL living beings <3

How you treat a gift is an expression of how you feel about the one who bestowed the gift.

If God gifted us this world …. how we treat this world, and every living creature on it, is a direct reflection about our feelings about God.

That simple.

Job 12:7-10
7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? 10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.

Bible quotes:

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Hebrews 13:1-3
13 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.3 Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.

Luke 6:27-38
27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.29 To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic[b] either.30 Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

32 “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

37 “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

“A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship.  But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease. Every hidden cell is throbbing with music and life, every fiber thrilling like harp strings, while incense is ever flowing from the balsam bells and leaves.  No wonder the hills and groves were God’s first temples, and the more they are cut down and hewn into cathedrals and churches, the farther off and dimmer seems the Lord himself.”
–   John Muir

~~ Although many of the woods are traditionally associated with one of the four classical elements (Air, Fire, Water, Earth), dryads are spirits that do not fall simply into one of these elements. Rather, they embody the fifth element recognized in the Taoist system: Wood. They are representative of all of the four elements combined into a fifth that is a living organism.

Trees are the pinnacle of the plant kingdom, as humans are often imagined to be the pinnacle of the animal kingdom, filled with nobility, grandeur, often great age, and wisdom that comes from a long life in one place. We are indebted to them in ways that are often incompletely realized: in the gift of oxygen, wood, and paper trees have made human civilization possible. They are, thus, mystically speaking, the midwives of all intelligent life and human creativity. The Quintessence is often described as Spirit, but it is enlightening to consider this “Fifth Element” as Wood for the trees point upwards to the sun, stars, and heavens, to the invisible Spirit, which is not an “element” at all, but the essence that underlies all manifestation.

The research into Christianity continues on. There are some obvious conclusions in that most who claim the religion actually are not what they claim. The violence of Christianity is completely contradictory to ‘being’ Christian. I have learned a new phrase – “Christian Terrorist”. Yet this phrase makes no sense at all. You cannot BE a Christian, and commit acts that betray the Prince of Peace. The word Christian has been twisted into too many strands.

Perhaps a new description needs to arise for the true followers who practice and live in accordance with the philosophies of the Son of God. This would make sense to me.

Ephesians 4:31-32
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Words matter. Every derogatory comment, every personal slander .. it matters. Deploring actions is one thing, and disagreeing with someone, that is all fine. But hating the person, that is another thing. That brings poison into our own bodies. Social media can be like road rage. Behind the wheel, you feel invincible. Behind the keyboard, you might feel it doesn’t matter what you say. It does matter.

An experiment: Go an entire day (or maybe just start with one hour! 😉) without saying anything negative. Just give it a try. Practice kindness to yourself and to the world.

Hebrews 10:24
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.

Love. Compassion. Kindness. <3

Just finished this skirt and wrap a couple days ago. It took almost 2 months in my spare time. The beadwork was the most intensive. The band around the waist is a netting of beads. The crochet work didn’t take too long. The panels of the skirt took a while, as each panel had to have a rolled hem sewed around it. The material is recycled (or UPcycled as the new phrase is) from material I found at Sunrise thrift store in Myrtle Creek. I also got the crochet thread there. I still need to make an underskirt for this so I can wear it without leggings.

Now on to other projects!

The Wood Nymph ~ Ellis Parker Butler

A glint of her hair or a flash of her shoulder —
That is the most I can boast to have seen,
Then all is lost as the shadows enfold her,
Forest glades making a screen of their green,
Could I cast off all the cares of tomorrow—
Could I forget all the fret of today
Then, my heart free from the burdens I borrow,
Nature’s chaste spirit her face would display.
